Safety and quality certificates for our beds
Types of certificates and what they mean:
The certificates below confirm that our beds have passed a series of specialised checks and tests assessing their load-bearing capacity, stability, and safety. They guarantee that our products comply with the applicable regulations and offer the highest level of protection. Our products are certified by a renowned body: Supervisory Institute.
Clean and safe varnishes
EN 71-3
Ensures that the varnishes and coatings used on the bed do not contain harmful chemicals that could migrate and be detrimental to health, especially for children.
FSC Certificate (Forest Stewardship Council)
Confirms that the wood used for our beds comes from sustainably and responsibly managed forests, with respect for the environment and local communities. By choosing LANO, you support environmentally friendly forestry.

Standard for bunk and high (loft) beds
PN-EN 747-1+A1:2015-08
Covers the safety and stability of high and bunk beds (over 60 cm above floor level), especially for beds with a length over 140 cm and a width up to 120 cm.
- Safe construction: All edges and corners are rounded, with no burrs or sharp parts.
- Load-bearing capacity of components: The bed is tested for vertical and horizontal loads to ensure that parts such as guard rails and the base are not damaged or deformed. For example, safety rails are tested with a downward force of 1000 N (approx. 100 kg).
- Safe openings and gaps: Moving parts of the bed (e.g. folding frames) are designed with safety in mind – clearances are a maximum of 7 mm or within 12–25 mm to prevent entrapment.
- Ladder stability: The ladder undergoes rigorous load tests, including a static vertical load of 1200 N (approx. 120 kg) per rung.
- User warnings: It is indicated that bunk beds and upper bunks are not suitable for children under 6 years of age. The instructions include further important safety information.
- Mattress information: The recommended maximum mattress height is 12 cm.

Standard for low (floor-standing) beds
PN-EN 1725:2001
This standard covers requirements for the safety, strength, and durability of all types of beds.
- No sharp edges or burrs: All parts that the user may touch during normal use must be free from burrs, sharp edges, or open ends.
- Safe moving mechanisms: If the bed has moving parts (e.g. folding frames), the clearances between them must be safe – up to 7 mm or within 12–25 mm to prevent entrapment.
- Stability: The bed is tested for resistance to tipping to ensure structural stability.
- Strength and durability: The bed is tested for static strength and cyclic loads, e.g. a durability test with a force of 1000 N (approx. 100 kg) over 10,000 cycles.
Furniture for domestic use (applies to the SOFINO model)
PN-EN 12520:2015
This certificate confirms that the SOFINO model meets additional, more detailed requirements and is ideally suited to everyday challenges in the home environment.
Furniture for non-domestic and general use (applies to the SOFINO model)
PN-EN 16139:2013
This is an extension of standard PN-EN 12520:2015 and is crucial for the SOFINO model when used in high-traffic areas such as hotels. The difference lies in the significantly higher number of test cycles (for example, the backrest is loaded 100,000 times). This demonstrates the bed’s increased load capacity and durability under intensive use and guarantees reliability even in demanding commercial environments.
